Alfriston

Alfriston is a medieval village in the South Downs that attracts visitors with its historic buildings and walking routes. Reach it via the A27 from Brighton (15km) or the A259 coastal route from Eastbourne. The village sits in the Cuckmere Valley with good access to National Park footpaths, though parking fills up on summer weekends. The 14th-century Clergy House was the National Trust's very first acquisition in 1896.
