Houndslow lies along the A697 in the Scottish Borders, roughly halfway between Edinburgh and the English border. The town serves as a convenient stop for cross-border traffic, with local routes including the B6460 to Greenlaw and connections to Gordon via country lanes. Around 25 fast EV chargers serve the area along main routes. The 18th-century mercat cross remains at the heart of the old market square.
