Hotwells occupies Bristol's historic docklands where the River Avon bends through the city. Reach it via the M5 Junction 18 onto the A4 Portway, which runs along the dramatic Avon Gorge. The area sits between the city centre and Avonmouth, with Victorian terraces rising toward Clifton's famous suspension bridge. The district's name comes from natural hot springs that drew Georgian spa visitors to this riverside quarter.
