Hardy is a tiny rural community in north-central Iowa's farm country, accessible via US Highway 169 and county roads from Humboldt, about 25 miles north of Fort Dodge. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 35, exiting at Humboldt. With only 10 residents, Hardy represents one of Iowa's smallest named places, essentially a rural neighborhood where a handful of farm families keep this historic community alive.
