Hamister lies on Whalsay in the Shetlands, reached by ferry from Laxo on the mainland via the A970. The crossing takes 20 minutes to Symbister, then it's a short drive to Hamister amongst neighboring settlements like Marrister and Saltness. The island boasts one of Shetland's best-preserved Bronze Age houses at Benie Hoose.
