Haggate occupies higher ground in northern Oldham, accessible via the A663 Rochdale Road from Manchester or Junction 21 of the M60. This former mill workers' area features characteristic terraced housing with elevated views across Greater Manchester's Pennine foothills, and still displays original Victorian sandstone lintels quarried locally in Royton during the 19th century.
