Greengill lies in West Cumbria's farming country, just off the A596 coastal route between Carlisle and Workington. Most visitors arrive via the M6 and A66, whilst locals use the network of lanes connecting villages like Gilcrux and Tallentire. The settlement takes its name from the local watercourse, whose banks stay remarkably green throughout the year.
