Access is via the A1079 York-Hull road through Market Weighton, with longer routes using the A164 from Hull or A1 connections. The village sits amid rolling chalk downland typical of the Wolds region. All Hallows Church stands on the historic site where pagan high priest Coifi destroyed his own temple upon converting to Christianity in 627 AD.
