Froncysyllte lies in the Dee Valley along the A539 between Llangollen and Ruabon, about 8 kilometers west of Wrexham. Most visitors arrive via the A539 or connect through the A5 at Llangollen for longer journeys to Chester or Shrewsbury. The village sits at the northern end of the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, where Thomas Telford's 1805 masterpiece carries the Llangollen Canal 126 feet above the River Dee on 18 magnificent stone arches.
