Fourstones

Fourstones is a Tyne Valley village on the A69 between Newcastle and Carlisle, about 30km west of Newcastle. It's perfectly placed for Hadrian's Wall, with the Roman remains at Chesters just down the road. The B6318 Military Road runs parallel to the Wall and connects the surrounding villages. The name comes from four ancient boundary stones, though only bits remain near the village centre today.
