Fountainstown is a small coastal village 25 kilometers southeast of Cork city, perched where Cork Harbour meets the Atlantic. Take the N25 from Cork toward Cobh, then branch south through Midleton for a 30-minute drive through farming country. Cork Airport is just 20 minutes away. Day-trippers come for the sandy beach and calm waters, while nearby attractions include Trabolgan Holiday Village's waterpark and the Jameson Distillery in Midleton. The beach's Victorian martello tower, built to defend against Napoleon's navy, still stands guard over the harbour.
