Fountainhall is a small Borders village on the A7, about 40 kilometres south of Edinburgh. The main route follows this historic trunk road through gentle hill country, with connections from the A72 near Peebles. Around 40 fast EV chargers serve the wider area. The old railway station house remains from the defunct Waverley Line.
