Fountain City, WI

Fountain City hugs the Mississippi River in western Wisconsin, squeezed between towering bluffs and the water. Highway 35 runs right through town along the river, connecting to La Crosse 25 miles south and continuing north toward the Twin Cities. Most visitors arrive via I-90 to La Crosse or Highway 61 from Minnesota. The town of 835 sits in a dramatic river valley where limestone cliffs rise straight from the Mississippi. A massive boulder that crashed through someone's house in 1995 still sits in their front yard.
