Fenwick is a tiny barrier island community at the Connecticut River's mouth, reached only by private road through Old Saybrook off Route 154. Most visitors take I-95 to Exit 69, then Route 9 south. The entire 49-person village operates as a private association where residents own shares instead of traditional property deeds.
