Edmondsley is a former County Durham pit village, about 10 miles northwest of Durham city. Reach it via the A693 from Chester-le-Street or local roads from the A167 near Sacriston, with the A1(M) providing long-distance access. The village sits amongst rolling coalfield countryside and retains its original miners' terraced houses built in the distinctive red brick typical of Durham's colliery communities.
