Dyfatty forms part of Burry Port on the Carmarthenshire coast, a former mining community with Victorian terraced streets. The A484 from Carmarthen provides the main access, connecting to the M4 for longer journeys, whilst local routes include the coastal B4308 to Pembrey. Over 50 EV charging points serve the area. The old harbour lighthouse still guides boats into the Gwendraeth Estuary.
