Durrus sits between Bantry Bay and Dunmanus Bay on the Sheep's Head Peninsula, making it a handy base for exploring West Cork's coastal drives. Take the N71 from Cork city through Bandon and Clonakilty to Bantry, then the R591 southwest for about 100 kilometers total. The village is famous for its artisan cheese maker, where you can watch traditional farmhouse cheese being made in converted stone creamery buildings, with wheels aging in the old cellars.
