Dumfries lies along the River Nith in southwest Scotland, reached via the A75 from the M74 at Gretna or the A701 from Glasgow through the Southern Uplands. The A710 and A711 serve the coastal areas, whilst over 20 fast charging points support electric vehicles. The town's red sandstone architecture centres on the medieval Old Bridge spanning the Nith.
