Dorrery sits along the A99 in Caithness, about 15km southwest of Thurso. Most visitors follow the coastal A99 or branch off via the A882. The village has traditional Highland stone houses with small windows and thick walls, built to withstand the fierce northern winds that regularly sweep across the surrounding moorland.
