Doon (Offaly)
Ireland
Ireland
Doon sits along the Shannon in County Offaly, right where the river divides Offaly from Westmeath. It's only 15 kilometers south of Athlone on the N62, making it a handy day trip from the bigger town. From Dublin, you'd take the M6 west to Athlone, then pick up the N62 south. The R357 offers a more scenic route through the Offaly countryside. The town's claim to fame is its lovely old stone bridge, a three-arch structure that's been linking the two counties for over 200 years.
