Doniphan is a farming town of about 1,000 people in south-central Nebraska, just 10 miles south of Grand Island on Highway 281. It's a quick 15-minute drive from the larger city, with I-80 about 20 miles north for long-distance travelers. The town sits amid endless cornfields and is dominated by massive grain elevators that tower over 100 feet high, visible for miles across the flat prairie landscape.
