Derriford is a large suburban district on Plymouth's northern edge, built around one of the Southwest's biggest hospital complexes. The A386 Tavistock Road runs straight through the center, connecting Plymouth city center 2km south with routes toward Dartmoor. Most visitors arrive via the A38 Devon Expressway or A30 from the M5. The hospital employs over 9,000 staff, making its tower blocks a landmark visible across Plymouth.
