Dennis Acres is a tiny Missouri community of 36 people in Newton County, about 10 miles northeast of Joplin near the Kansas border. Reach it via I-44 to Exit 8, then local roads northeast, or take State Route 171 north from Joplin. Most traffic involves short commutes to Joplin for work and services, while long-distance visitors typically come via I-44 from Kansas City or St. Louis. The community still maintains its original 1902 one-room schoolhouse as a meeting hall.
