Cumberland, KY

Cumberland is a small Appalachian city in southeastern Kentucky, home to about 2,000 people in Harlan County's coal country. US Highway 119 is the main route, running north-south through town and connecting to Pineville 30 miles north and Virginia to the south. State Route 160 provides east-west access to other county communities. The mountainous terrain channels most traffic through river valleys, creating winding but scenic drives. Downtown features a restored 1920s movie theater that still operates on weekends.
