Crossaig perches on Kintyre's wild Atlantic coast, reached via the A83 from Tarbert then the winding B8001 coastal road. The journey from Glasgow takes about two hours through dramatic Highland scenery, whilst local routes connect to Claonaig's Arran ferry and historic Skipness. The village's name derives from "Crois Aig" - cross at - marking an ancient stone cross on the medieval pilgrimage path to Iona.
