Cross Plains is a small Wisconsin town of about 4,100 people located 15 miles west of Madison via US Highway 14. The main route from Madison follows Highway 14 straight west, while County Highway P connects from the north and south. Most long-distance visitors arrive via Interstate 94 to Madison, then take Highway 14 west. The town sits in Dane County's rolling countryside and is notable as the birthplace of the Culver's restaurant chain, which opened its first location here in 1984.
