Crookhaven

Crookhaven sits at the very end of the Mizen Peninsula, about 140 kilometers from Cork city via the N71 through Clonakilty and Skibbereen, then southwest on the R591. The narrow roads wind through wild countryside past Goleen, with the final stretch quite remote. Electric car drivers should charge up in Skibbereen as there are only about 3 public fast chargers in the area. This tiny harbor village was once a major transatlantic telegraph station with cables running straight to Newfoundland, making it a crucial link in 19th-century global communications.
