Corrykinloch lies in remote Sutherland beside Loch Shin, accessible via single-track roads from the A838. Most visitors arrive from Inverness (80km southeast) or Lairg (25km), whilst local traffic connects the scattered lochside settlements. The village sits beside one of Scotland's largest artificial reservoirs, created by damming Loch Shin for hydroelectric power in the 1950s.
