Cooter is a small farming town in Missouri's southeastern corner, just north of the Arkansas line. Most visitors arrive via I-55 to Highway 164, or drive up from Blytheville about 20 miles south. The town sits in flat cotton country where the Mississippi River shaped the fertile floodplain. Cooter got its name from the cooter turtles that used to populate the local waterways.
