Clonliffe lies in Dublin's north inner city between the Royal Canal and city center, easily reached via the M50 motorway with connections to the N3 or M1. Local drivers use North Circular Road and Dorset Street as main routes, while Dublin Airport sits 12 kilometers north via the M1. The area connects well to Dublin Port through East Wall Road for ferry passengers. The neighborhood takes its name from the historic Holy Cross Seminary at Clonliffe College, whose distinctive red-brick Victorian buildings have been training Catholic priests since 1859 and remain a defining landmark of the area.
