Clogheen is a handy market town in County Tipperary where the Knockmealdown Mountains drop down to the Golden Vale plains along the River Tar. The R665 runs straight through the center, connecting easily to Cork via Mitchelstown (45km) or Dublin through Cashel (35km). The scenic route from Waterford takes you through the Nire Valley on the R672. There's decent fast charging for electric cars, and the town sits perfectly for crossing between Munster's main cities. The Blackwater Distillery just outside produces proper Irish whiskey using traditional copper stills and mountain spring water.
