Chunky, MS

Chunky is a small Mississippi town of 242 people in Newton County, positioned along Highway 80 between Meridian and Jackson. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 20 at Exit 109, with Meridian Regional Airport 12 miles northeast for air travelers. The community sits in rolling pine forest country with a humid subtropical climate. The town gets its distinctive name from Chunky Creek, named after a traditional Choctaw stone disc game played along the waterway.
