Catrine is a former textile village in East Ayrshire's Ayr Valley, reached via the A76 from Kilmarnock then local roads through Mauchline. Glasgow drivers use the M77 to Kilmarnock then continue south. The village is dominated by David Dale's 1780s cotton mill complex along the River Ayr.
