Castletownshend

Ireland

Ireland

This tiny West Cork village sits at the end of the R596, about 20 minutes from Skibbereen off the N71. The Georgian houses climb up from a sheltered harbor, connected by one of Ireland's steepest main streets that drops straight into the water. Cars have to park at careful angles to avoid rolling into the harbor. It's a grand spot for a day trip when exploring the Wild Atlantic Way, though the narrow approach roads need a bit of patience, especially when the tour buses are about.
