Castlemartyr

Castlemartyr is a handy market town in County Cork, sitting 25 kilometers east of Cork city on the N25 Cork-Waterford road. It's perfectly placed for exploring eastern Cork's coastline, with roads heading south to spots like Ballycotton. The town makes a good base for visiting Trabolgan's waterpark, championship golf courses at Castlemartyr Resort and Fota Island, or the Jameson Experience at nearby Midleton. The real draw though is the crumbling 800-year-old castle ruins that loom behind the church, watching over the town square like an ancient sentinel.
