Cashion Community, TX

Cashion Community is a small farming town in northern Texas near the Oklahoma border, accessible via State Highway 79 from Wichita Falls about 15 miles south. Most visitors arrive on US 287 from Interstate 44 or Wichita Falls Municipal Airport, 20 miles away. The community of 300 residents sits on flat Red River Valley prairie land where summer heat and occasional winter ice storms shape daily life. The town was named after James Cashion, who opened the area's first store and post office in the 1880s.
