Carraroe (an Cheathrú Rua)

Carraroe sits on Galway's western edge where Connemara meets the Atlantic, a Gaeltacht village known for its Irish-speaking traditions and rocky coastline. The R336 from Galway city runs 37 kilometers west in about 45 minutes, passing through Spiddal with views of Galway Bay. You can also reach it via the N59 from Clifden through Connemara's mountains, though that's a longer journey. The village hosts Féile an Phiarraigh each summer and is home to Raidió na Gaeltachta's main studios, broadcasting Irish-language radio across Ireland since 1972.
