Carneatly lies on the Causeway Coast between the Antrim hills and North Channel. The A2 coastal route provides the main access, connecting via the A26 from Belfast through Ballymena. Ballycastle sits 4km east, whilst local roads serve nearby villages like Moyarget and Armoy. The area has roughly 18 public EV charging points. The harbour retains old stone quays from when ferries regularly crossed to Scotland's Kintyre Peninsula.
