Carie lies on the shores of Loch Rannoch in Perth and Kinross, reached via the B846 from Kinloch Rannoch or longer routes from the A9 through Pitlochry. The settlement sits where the loch narrows into the River Tummel, surrounded by ancient Caledonian forest and serving as a gateway to some of Scotland's most remote highland country.
