Canon City, CO

Canon City sits along the Arkansas River in south-central Colorado, about 45 miles from both Pueblo and Colorado Springs via US 50 and State Highway 115. The high desert location at 5,300 feet elevation creates a dramatic setting surrounded by Rocky Mountain foothills. Most visitors arrive on Highway 50 from I-25, either through Pueblo from the east or Colorado Springs from the north. The city is known as "Colorado's Prison Capital," housing thirteen state correctional facilities that employ much of the local workforce.
