Sayabec sits right on Route 132 where the Matapédia Valley meets the St. Lawrence lowlands, on the shore of Lac Matapédia. It's a quick 26 km hop to Amqui and about 36 km to Lac-au-Saumon or Saint-René-de-Matane for daily errands, while Mont-Joli (42 km) and Matane (43 km) make for easy day trips, the latter handy if you're catching the ferry across the St. Lawrence. Mont Joli Airport is 47 km out. Anglers know Sayabec well, since Lac Matapédia and the nearby river system are a solid draw for salmon fishing.
