Most folks coming from Nanaimo or further south take Highway 19 and cut over near Buckley Bay for the last bit into town. Cumberland and Courtenay are both about 7 km away for daily errands, and Comox Valley International Airport (YQQ) is a quick 18 km drive. EV charging is available in Courtenay and Comox. The real highlight here is the Royston Shipwrecks, old ship hulls sunk decades ago as a breakwater, still visible at low tide.
