Local runs to Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, and Coquitlam are quick, while trips from Burnaby or New West mean a longer haul down Highway 1 first. With Golden Ears Provincial Park right at its back door, the city blends river flats with mountain foothills. Worth knowing: incorporated in 1874, it's older than most of its Lower Mainland neighbors.
