Bures Hamlet

Bures Hamlet straddles the Suffolk-Essex border in the Stour Valley, accessible via the A1071 from Sudbury or through Colchester on country lanes. Most visitors arrive from London via the A12, whilst locals use the B1508 connecting surrounding villages. The settlement centres around St. Stephen's Church, famous for its medieval wall paintings of St. Edmund.
