Breaffy lies 5 kilometres southeast of Castlebar along the R311 in County Mayo. Most visitors reach it via the N5 from Dublin, a 2.5 hour drive, or from nearby Westport and Claremorris on shorter routes. The town sits amid rolling green pastures typical of Mayo's interior, with hills rising eastward and the terrain opening toward Clew Bay. Electric vehicle drivers will find about 25 fast charging stations around Castlebar. The centrepiece is Breaffy House Hotel, a Victorian mansion that belonged to the Marquess of Sligo, now featuring Eddie Hackett's championship golf course.
