Botcherby forms part of Carlisle's southeastern suburbs, three kilometres from the city centre along the A69 Newcastle road. The M74 provides motorway access 15 kilometres north for Scottish connections, whilst local routes serve nearby Harraby, Scotby and Upperby. Over 50 EV charging points operate across greater Carlisle. The neighbourhood developed on former farmland that historically supplied the city's markets.
