Birstwith

Birstwith lies in Nidderdale between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge, easily reached via the A61 then local roads through Hampsthwaite. It's a popular escape for Leeds residents, about 20 miles northwest on the A61, and serves as a gateway to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Norman church of St James houses a remarkable 12th-century carved tympanum showing Christ in Majesty.
