Big Stone City, SD

Big Stone City sits right on the Minnesota border in northeastern South Dakota, with US Highway 12 running straight through town. The community of 700 people sits along Big Stone Lake's western shore, about 45 miles from Watertown via US 212 and US 12. Most visitors arrive on US 12 from either Milbank to the west or Ortonville, Minnesota to the east, with I-29 accessible 30 miles east. The town gets its name from the massive granite outcropping that runs along the lakeshore.
