Big Sandy is a small East Texas town of about 1,300 people located along US Highway 80, roughly 15 miles northeast of Tyler and 20 miles southwest of Marshall. The community sits in the piney woods region on rolling terrain with red clay soil. US 80 serves as the main route through town, while State Highway 155 provides north-south access. Interstate 20 runs about 10 miles south for longer trips to Dallas or Shreveport. The town's high school football stadium features wooden bleachers seating just 1,200 people, creating an intimate Friday night atmosphere.
