Bear Creek, AL

Bear Creek is a small town of about 1,500 people in northwest Alabama's Marion County, nestled in the Appalachian foothills near the Tennessee border. Reach it via State Route 17, which connects south to US Highway 78 from Hamilton and north to Interstate 22 at Hackleburg. Most visitors come from Birmingham (90 miles southeast) or make shorter trips to nearby Hamilton. The town is home to the Horton Mill Covered Bridge, the highest covered bridge above water in the United States.
